Dog Licenses

All dogs six months and older must have a license. If you become the owner of a dog six months or older, the dog must be licensed by January of each year. In order to obtain a license for your dog, the owner must present a current State of Maine Rabies Certificate obtained from a veterinarian.

 

 

 

 

 

Dog Licensing Fees

$6 per year for spayed / neutered dogs (altered)
$11 per year for dogs not spayed / neutered (unaltered)
 
 
Re-licensing is available from October 15 through January 31 each year.
New licenses may be purchased throughout the year.
Per state law, any dog license that is re-licensed after January 31 will be subject to a $25 late fee
You must provide a current State of Maine rabies certificate in order to register your dog.
Please let us know if your dog is no longer living or no longer in your possession.
 
 
You may use one of the following methods to re-license your dog:
 
  • Online at www.doglicensing.com. This service costs an additional $1 and your dog's tag will be mailed to you. 
  • Mail payment, a current State of Maine rabies certificate and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Clerk’s Office, PO Box 339, Bristol, ME  04539.  All checks must be made payable to the Town of Bristol. This may also be deposited in our dropbox.  (It is located to the left of the front door when facing the building.)  Your dog's tag will be mailed to you.
  • Visit the Clerk’s office during regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:00pm.
