Fish Count Totals for 2023

Count totals are in for the 2023 alewife run.

In what felt like a slow year due to cool temps and whacky water levels, we still managed a solid run in the third year with the new fish ladder. The run lasted longer than usual, as we normally wrap up around Father's Day.

The stats:

38 days

over 35,000 clicks

320 count periods (15 minutes each, for 80 hours total)

just over 277,000 alewives (estimated)

Many thanks to all the 36 volunteer counters who stuck with it and

counted on many slow and rainy days!
